Before beginning any weight loss medication, a baseline BP, HR and labs must be obtained.
Semaglutide/ B12: a GLP1 (similar to OZEMPIC) is an anti-obesity medication used for short and long term weight loss by injection. It can only be obtained with a prescription. Never take any medication unless from a reputable provider. Long term weight loss concludes at 6 months. Diet, Exercise and Lifestyle change will have been initiated to include activities of daily living.
- Indications: Semaglutide/ B12 is used in adjunct with diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with T2DM.
- For long term weight management in Obese patients BMI 30kg/m2.
- For long term weight management in Overweight patients BMI> 27 with 1 related comorbidity (i.e. hypertension, hyperlipidemia).
- Side Effects: Nausea, Vomiting, Diarrhea, abdominal pain and/or constipation.
- Severe Side Effects: Pancreatitis, Gastroparesis, Bowel obstruction.
- Contraindications: Mediated Thyroid C Cell Hyperplasia, Medullary Thyroid CA or with Multiple Endocrine Neo -plasma Type 2, & Gastric Bypass surgery.
- Patients with a personal or family history of Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma are also excluded from this medication.
- Actions: This Peptide medication helps with weight management by the interruption of cravings in the brain thus decreasing appetite. This process will also slow down digestion in the stomach, thereby reducing body fat. 1 injection per week. Dosing to be determined by Provider and Pharmacist.
- It is very important to drink lots of water and eat small meals.
- Taking a multivitamin and Digestive enzyme also is recommended.
Tirzepatide/ B3: is a compound medication with two types of Peptides: GIP and GLP1 used in adjunct with diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults, decrease cravings and improve weight by decreasing body fat. Little to no muscle wasting.
